Frequently Asked Questions
Answers to the most common questions about our home insurance
Is home insurance mandatory?
Yes for tenants (minimum rental risks + civil liability). Highly recommended for owners (fire, water damage, theft...). In a condominium, the building insurance does not cover your personal belongings.
What are the basic coverages included?
Fire/explosion, water damage, storm/hail/snow, natural disasters (if officially recognized), glass breakage (windows/doors), private civil liability (damage caused to others), legal defense and recourse.
Is theft always covered?
In Comfort and Serenity plans: yes (with break-in, violence or threat). Deductible usually €150–300. In Essential plan, theft is not included (optional). Claim must be reported within 48 hours + police report required.
Can I subscribe without an inventory or expert appraisal?
Yes, most contracts can be taken out online without prior appraisal (up to a certain contents value, e.g. €50,000). Beyond that, a declaration on honor is usually sufficient. No systematic expert appraisal required for standard contracts.
Is there assistance in case of a claim?
Yes, 24/7 in Comfort and Serenity plans: locksmith, plumber, electrician emergency service, temporary accommodation (hotel), cash advance, security of the damaged property. Intervention within 2–4 hours in emergencies.
Can I cancel my contract at any time?
Yes, thanks to the Hamon law: cancellation possible at any time after the first year, without fees or justification. With the Chatel law, we remind you each year of your right to cancel (renewal + 20 days). Cancellation effective within 1 month.
Is legal protection useful?
Highly recommended as an option (Serenity plan): coverage of lawyer fees, expert reports, amicable or judicial proceedings in case of dispute with neighbor, tenant, craftsman, seller of appliances, etc. Often €20,000–30,000 per claim limit.
